We're big fans of Super Mega Baseball and it's developer Metalhead Software and not just because of their name "Metalhead". While Sony's San Diego Studio has been pushing the envelope every year with the best available simulation style baseball game, Metalhead has taken a different approach offering a more accessible and arcade style game. It's been a breath of fresh air to those interested in video game baseball but not keen on learning the many complexities of MLB: The Show.
Our community has been really enjoying the score chase mechanic built into Super Mega Baseball. If you're friends with us on the PlayStation 4 and own the game, you may already be aware of the climbing leaderboard. Or perhaps you've heard us talking about it week after week on the podcast. We're having so much fun in fact that a few of us are excited to play it again and score chase with different people on the XBOX One when it releases for "free" as part of the Games With Gold program next month.
Yesterday Metalhead announced a sequel and we couldn't be more excited. Super Mega Baseball 2 will feature revamped graphics, player & league customization, online co-op, PVP and refined gameplay.
"With the launch of Super Mega Baseball we received an overwhelming and positive response from the community, confirmation of sustained interest in this style of streamlined gameplay in sports games, and some excellent feedback." said Metalhead co-founder Scott Drader.
